Explore the Art of Vanilla Extract Making

Calling all coffee enthusiasts and vanilla extract lovers. Are you and your family looking for a fun indoor activity on a rainy April evening? On April 16 from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. enjoy an hour of an online class that can help you elevate your coffee in your own home. 

The Coffee Bean Cinnamon Spice Extract Making Workshop and Orange Cream Extract class will virtually be hosted by Paul and Jill Fulton, the owners of VanillaPura, a gourmet vanilla company and the authors of the bestselling book, “The Art of Extract Making.” 

The Fultons who are college sweethearts have been married for 26 years. Since then, the two of them have been inseparable. 

Not long after college Paul was able to travel throughout the Caribbean and surrounding countries while working for a retail firm at the time. His wife, Jill was able to join him for a variety of his trips. 

Together the couple has traveled the globe to Latin America, Africa, Australia and Asia. 

After a trip to Mexico over 10 years ago their vanilla journey would eventually turn into the rapidly growing company that it is today.

“So, we learned a little bit about vanilla, then we had no idea it was going to sort of change our lives the way that it has,” said Paul Fulton.  

The official concept of their company, VanillaPura, was originally founded in 2016 when Jill Fulton and two of her friends were in the giving spirit and wanted to make gifts for the holidays. 

“If we could somehow capture that amazing extract making moment, it would be a fun moment to share and to recreate in homes all around the world. Because there’s just something about extract making, it makes you laugh and smile,” said Paul Fulton. 

In 2017 the Fultons opened their virtual doors and began selling vanilla bean products online. Since then, the company has also created a strong social media presence. With their Facebook group having 100,000 members, provides a variety of different experiences within the group allowing a safe space to ask questions. 

Like their Facebook Group called Making Vanilla Extract by VanillaPura, The Coffee Bean Cinnamon Spice Extract Making Workshop and Orange Cream Extract class held on April 16, will be open to all experience levels.

According to the Fultons, the course will consist of how to select the proper ingredients. A few topics will consist of the various types of cinnamon, the flavor compounds of particular vanilla beans and why specific ingredients pair well together opposed to other ingredients. 

All ages are welcome to attend the online class, however alcohol is used in the process of making the vanilla extract so an adult will need to be present throughout the duration of the class. 

During the live workshop, Paul and Jill will instruct how to create the vanilla extract step by step while making the product along with their virtual participants. While the class is occurring, a moderator will be present to ask questions that participants have typed in the chat feature online or individuals can directly ask questions aloud, explained Jill Fulton.
