New at Noon: August 6, 2025
Sergei Prokofiev traveled the world as one of the finest pianists of his day. He considered leaving his homeland permanently, but his Soviet bosses tried to persuade him to stay by offering some lucrative commissions including composing music for the ROMEO & JULIET ballet in 1935. The Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra recently recorded Prokofiev’s music on their latest release. Listen Wednesday at 12:00 to hear Aziz Shokhakimov conduct Suite #1 from ROMEO & JULIET on New at Noon on 90.9 WGUC.
