New at Noon: September 23, 2025
Founded in 2010 by students of the Lviv National Music Academy, The Vivere String Quartet is a Ukrainian ensemble that brings to the world the music of contemporary Ukrainian composers as well as masterworks of the classical chamber music tradition and everything in between, telling stories of Ukraine past and present. They returned to their homeland to record, noting, “Our mission to communicate our feelings, and those of the composers and our entire nation – our sorrow and pain, but also our joy, love and determination – meant we had to put aside our fears.” Last year they released an album entitled “PRAYER for Ukraine,” with proceeds from this album to be donated to non-profit organizations providing relief efforts in Ukraine. Tune in at 12:00 to hear their performance of a String Quartet by Vasyl Barvinsky, New at Noon @90.9 WGUC. (Image courtesy of Vivere String Quartet)
