New at Noon Week of Feb. 26

Local phenom Miriam K. Smith has another exciting release! This time it’s an EP release of Zoltan Kodaly’s solo cello sonata.

We’ve been impressed and following Miriam for several years now and are happy to share her music making on WGUC. Following her showpieces, and Russian album, Ms. Smith has tackled one of the most sublime and nuanced of pieces, the Solo Cello Sonata by Kodaly. Zoltan himself predicted that “in 25 years no cellist will be accepted who has not played it”.

We’ll also share the latest from composer Peter Boyer and his Rhapsody in Red, White and Blue commissioned by Jeffrey Biegel in honor of the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
